Bay container terminal construction to start soon

The construction work of long awaited Bay Container Terminal is going to start soon in Chittagong to mobilise the port activities as the problem involving land acquisition is almost over, officials have said.

The construction work of the project under Chittagong Port Authority had slowed down over land acquisition process.

CPA chairman Commodore Zulfiqur Aziz told New Age that there was no other hurdle in the way of the terminal.

Chittagong district administration on Tuesday would hand over the compensation cheque to the owners of 68 acres of private land acquired for constructing the terminal, he said.
