A2B-online orders two sustainable boxships at Turkish shipyard

A2B-online, a provider of flexible trailer, container and shipping services has announced the construction of two sustainable vessels of 650 TEUs.

The company is implementing a fleet revitalisation programme with an eye on the long-term and as it replaces its older tonnage, A2B-online has chosen to construct new boxships focussing on sustainable performance.

The new vessels aim to reduce CO2 emissions significantly by up to 95%. Also, the ships will have a multi-fuel methanol propulsion system, shore power, and battery capacity to operate emission-free during port and inland water operations.

They are under construction at Sedef Shipyard in Türkiye and are expected to be in service by the end of 2024, operating between Moerdijk in the Netherlands and Immingham in the United Kingdom.

A2B-online said it has developed the vessels together with Hamburg-based design and engineering company Technology Services.
