2M Alliance is forced to apply several changes in its services schedule due to the challenging global market situation, which has caused port congestion and schedule delays across the supply chain.
The largest container alliance, which comprises Maersk Line and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), has decided to adjust the sailing programme on its Transpacific West Coast US & Canada network to match the actual departure dates from Asia.
“We will revise the voyage numbers to provide better schedule reliability,” said MSC in its announcement.

“However, you may continue to place bookings with limited disruption as we are arranging a contingency plan with alternatives services,” noted MSC.
In addition, Maersk has announced that 2M Alliance’s Asia to North Europe network has also been affected by severe port congestions worldwide.
“This situation is driven by a combination of rapidly increased demand and measures to fight the pandemic across ports and supply chains,” said the Danish carrier.
As a result of the high yard density and exceptional waiting time for its vessels in the port of Antwerp, 2M Alliance has decided to combine the calls at Antwerp for its Griffin/AE55 and Lion/AE6 services starting from week 28, for the duration of six weeks.
Consequently, the Griffin/AE55 service will omit Antwerp and induce Le Havre instead, while the Lion/AE6 service will omit Le Havre but retain the call at Antwerp.
The updated ports in Europe that the two services will call at are:
- Griffin service: Rotterdam – Le Havre – Felixstowe (instead of Rotterdam – Antwerp – Felixstowe)
- Lion service: Sines – Antwerp – Felixstowe (instead of Sines – Antwerp – Le Havre – Felixstowe)
