Zodiac and Wuhu secure major containership orders in China

Zodiac Maritime has reportedly placed an order for six 9,000-TEU containerships with Jiangsu Hantong Heavy Industry, with deliveries expected in the second half of 2028, as DynaLiners reported. These vessels are part of Zodiac’s ongoing fleet expansion to strengthen its global container operations.

Meanwhile, Wuhu Shipyard in China has received multiple local orders. Two 1,700-TEU containerships were ordered by Anhui Wangbang Shipping for service between the Pearl River and Yangtze River deltas. Additionally, four 410-TEU LNG/dual-fuel vessels were ordered by Shanghai Yujing Shipping. These units will operate along the Yangtze River route between Shanghai and Wuhan, supporting regional sustainable shipping initiatives.

Together, these orders highlight the growing demand for both large ocean-going vessels and smaller, environmentally friendly ships for inland and regional trade, reflecting continued investment in China’s shipbuilding sector.
