ZIM expands global smart container rollout with Hoopo’s advanced tracking

ZIM announced that it is expediting the global rollout of smart containers, enhancing supply chain transparency and visibility with Hoopo’s advanced hoopoSense Solar trackers.

With rising demand for accurate, real-time supply chain visibility, ZIM’s smart container solution offers customers precise data, ensuring reliable tracking throughout the shipment process, including the inland journey. This enables full transparency and a more precise ETA, even as containers move beyond terminals or depots toward their final destinations.

“ZIM’s global rollout of Hoopo’s technology is revolutionizing container visibility. Our smart container services give our customers critical real-time data, enabling better decision-making across their supply chains and risk mitigation while the cargo is in transit. With Hoopo’s integrated door sensors, ZIM offers unmatched tracking visibility in the industry. This accelerated deployment reinforces ZIM’s position as an industry leader in technology and innovation, delivering cutting-edge solutions for our customers,” stated Eli Glickman, ZIM President and CEO.

The hoopoSense Solar tracker sets a new benchmark in power efficiency, with a battery life exceeding 12 years—enough to cover the container’s entire operational lifespan and eliminate costly replacements.

Additionally, it delivers precise location data and features an innovative, built-in door-opening detection system with 99% accuracy, enhancing cargo security by detecting unauthorized access along the container’s route. Additionally, the tracker meets ATEX-1 standards, making it suitable for LNG vessels and other demanding marine environments.

Unlike traditional trackers that rely on external door sensors, which consume more battery power and increase installation and maintenance costs, Hoopo’s all-in-one design enables faster deployment and reduces the potential for malfunctions associated with additional components. This solution provides ZIM and its customers with a highly reliable, cost-effective tracking option.
