Yokkaichi Port sees 9.6% rise in foreign-trade containers

Yokkaichi Port handled 15,507 TEUs of foreign-trade containers in November 2025, up 9.6% year on year, according to the Yokkaichi Port Authority, and as the Japan International Freight Forwarders Association (JIFFA) reported.

Exports reached 8,371 TEUs, an 8.4% increase. Imports totaled 7,136 TEUs, up 11.1%.

Loaded containers rose 13% to 13,896 TEUs. Exports of full containers climbed 12.5% to 7,106 TEUs, while imports jumped 13.5% to 6,790 TEUs. Empty containers fell 12.7% to 1,611 TEUs.

From January to November, the port handled 153,022 TEUs, down 1.1% year on year. Exports slipped 1.6% to 84,684 TEUs, and imports declined 0.6% to 68,338 TEUs.

Full-container exports dropped 4.1% to 72,019 TEUs. Full-container imports edged up 1.7% to 65,272 TEUs. International feeder volumes fell 7.2% to 7,745 TEUs.

Taiwan ranked as the top export destination, with volumes up 16% to 10,887 TEUs. South Korea followed with a 14.9% increase to 9,892 TEUs. China placed third with 9,657 TEUs, down 1.3%. Vietnam surged 26% to 8,828 TEUs, while India rose 2.3% to 7,627 TEUs.

China remained the largest import source at 14,224 TEUs, up 21.6%. The Philippines followed with 11,262 TEUs, down 0.4%. Indonesia ranked third at 9,332 TEUs, down 2.2%. South Korea fell 15.7% to 7,685 TEUs, while Thailand increased 1.4% to 7,325 TEUs.
