Yang Ming names 2,800TEU newbuilding

Yang Ming Marine held a naming ceremony for its 2,800TEU class container vessel, YM Credibility, at CSBC’s Kaohsiung shipyard on 15 January.

[s2If is_user_logged_in()]Among the series of ten 2,800TEU container vessels built at CSBC shipyard, YM Credibility will be the seventh to be delivered to the Taiwanese carrier.

The new vessel’s nominal capacity is 2,940TEU, while it is also equipped with 353 reefer plugs. It has a length of 209.75m, a width of 32.8m and a draft of 11.2m. Moreover, Yang Ming’s newbuilding is designed to cruise at a speed up to 21 knots.

YM Credibility adopts the Sea Sword Bow design to improve energy efficiency and optimise hydrodynamic performance, according to a YM announcement. Furthermore, the implementation of its electronic controlled fuel injection engine with low-load tuning exhaust gas bypass fuel control system and the installation of a scrubber is expected to efficiently reduce emissions of NOx and SOx, and enable Yang Ming’s global fleet to attain a competitive advantage in environmental protection and operational efficiency.

The new container ship will be deployed on the company’s Taiwan-Philippines direct service (TPE service) on 19 January, operating between Kaohsiung and Manila.

YM Credibility is certified with ABS’ Smart INF and Smart SHM notations and CR Classification Society‘s Smartship H, Et, I notations. The recognition denotes that the vessel is equipped with smart information infrastructure of big data acquisition and cloud transmission, which allow ship structure endurance monitoring and future structural health awareness through ABS’s customized analysis program to ensure sailing safety.

The ceremony was jointly officiated by Yang Ming chairman, Cheng Cheng-Mount, and CSBC Corporation chairman, Cheng Wen-Lon. Meanwhile, Alice Ho, chief financial officer and senior vice president, had the honor to officially name the ship during the ceremony.[/s2If]
