YamnaCo has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the new and renewable energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant advancement in its strategy to establish a large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia facility in India.
The agreement, signed on 18 July 2025, outlines Yamna’s commitment to developing a phased, grid-connected green ammonia project with a targeted capacity of up to 1 million tonnes per annum.
The facility will be located near the port of Krishnapatnam in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The estimated investment for the project stands at approximately US$ $1.9 billion, with the potential to create around 5,500 direct and indirect jobs.
The initiative aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, which aims to produce 5 Mtpa of green hydrogen by 2030.
The company’s international portfolio includes notable ventures such as the 1 Mtpa green ammonia project in Oman, co-developed with Japan’s J-POWER and France’s EDF. Its strengths in project structuring, offtake agreements, ammonia technology, and agile execution underpin its global leadership in the green energy sector.
The Andhra Pradesh project will target both domestic and international markets, capitalizing on the state’s strategic port infrastructure to supply demand centers in Europe and Asia.
Several leading global financial institutions have already expressed interest in supporting the project.
This MoU represents a shared commitment between Yamna and the Government of Andhra Pradesh to accelerate the green energy transition and position the state as a key global hub for sustainable hydrogen and ammonia production.
