Pirate activity continues to escalate in the Indonesian waters of the Singapore Strait, raising concern among maritime authorities and vessel operators navigating one of the world’s busiest trade routes.

According to security firm Ambrey, a Marshall Islands-flagged bulk carrier was recently boarded by four individuals while transiting eastbound through the Philip Channel—a narrow, high-traffic stretch that has emerged as a global piracy hotspot.
