WEC Lines has revamped its UK IE Spain service, now renamed NWC Spain, and upgraded it to a weekly sailing. The enhanced service adds Antwerp, Montoir-de-Bretagne, and Gijón to the rotation, strengthening links between Spain, the UK, Ireland, and Northwestern Europe.
Starting September 27, two dedicated 812- and 822-TEU vessels will operate the route on fixed-day weekly rotations. Departures from Bilbao on Fridays will reach Liverpool by Monday and Dublin by Wednesday, offering a faster, more reliable alternative to road transport.
Transit times from Antwerp (seven days) and Montoir-de-Bretagne (two days) to Bilbao ensure smooth onward rail connections to Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid, Zaragoza, and Agoncillo. From Liverpool, rail links connect quickly to Belfast, Mossend, and Greenock, further boosting network efficiency.
The ports of call now include Antwerp, Le Havre, Montoir, Bilbao, Gijón, Liverpool, and Dublin, forming a tightly connected trade corridor.
“Adding a second vessel allows us to offer a fast, reliable solution for Spanish clients into Northwestern Europe,” said Caesar Luikenaar, Managing Director of WEC Lines. “It reflects our commitment to meeting market demand and providing optimal solutions for customers.”
