Wärtsilä has signed an outcome-based operation and maintenance (O&M) agreement with Brazilian Âmbar Energia, part of the J&F Group, covering three of the company’s power plants. The five-year agreement links Wärtsilä’s services to clear performance targets, enabling the plants to deliver reliable, uninterrupted power. The order was booked in Q3 2025.
Firstly, the plants, located in Manaus, each have a 92 MW output from five Wärtsilä 50SG engines. They were recently converted to run on natural gas, making them the only plants in Brazil to complete such a conversion.
The agreement aligns financial terms with predefined performance targets, creating a results-driven partnership. Wärtsilä will focus on maximizing engine uptime through proactive maintenance and spare parts supply, ensuring high efficiency, reliability, and predictable long-term operational costs.
Fábio Bindermann, Operations Director at Âmbar Energia, said the agreement aims to increase operational efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure regulatory compliance. Wärtsilä will use advanced digital tools and predictive maintenance to optimize the asset lifecycle.
Also, Gaston Giani, Energy Business Director at Wärtsilä Energy, noted that the outcome-based model ensures shared goals and mutual accountability. Moreover, supports decarbonization targets.
Lastly, Âmbar Energia operates 43 power generation units across natural gas, hydro, solar, biomass, coal, and biogas. The company contributes to the diversification and expansion of the country’s energy matrix.
