Wärtsilä signs agreement with HMD for new Medium Gas Carrier vessel

Technology group Wärtsilä has secured a contract to provide cargo handling and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fuel supply systems for a new Medium Gas Carrier (MGC) vessel commissioned by Turkish ship owner Pasco Gas.

The agreement, signed by Wärtsi lä and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD), follows the vessel order, exercised as an option from a prior newbuild contract signed in February 2023.

According to a statement, Wärtsilä’s involvement in both ships remains consistent. Having established a strong partnership with HMD through various new-build projects, Wärtsilä said it maintains its market-leading position in delivering innovative solutions that elevate the safety, reliability, and efficiency of gas cargo handling.

“We are pleased to add this vessel for Pasco Gas to our impressive list of references and to extend our close and long relationship with HMD” commented Hans Jakob Buvarp, sales manager at Cargo Handling Systems of Wärtsilä Gas Solutions.

Wärtsilä Gas Solutions primary focus areas encompass the effective management of gas in seaborne transport, covering aspects such as storage, fuel, transfer, and boil-off gas (BOG) management. The firm also excels in gas-to-power solutions, liquefaction, and biogas solutions.
