Wärtsilä has announced the sale of its Marine Electrical Systems business to VINCI Energies, marking another step in its strategy to streamline operations and focus on core growth areas.
The Marine Electrical Systems unit, known for its specialized integration of complex onboard electrical systems, has operated independently within Wärtsilä’s Portfolio Business segment. It connects both Wärtsilä’s own equipment and yard-installed systems into a unified electrical network. In 2024, the unit recorded revenues of around €100 million.
The deal includes the legal transfer of Wärtsilä SAM Electronics GmbH and relevant assets tied to an active project in Brazil.
”This agreement is yet another proof point of our Portfolio Business divestment strategy coming to life. VINCI Energies has deep expertise in complex project-based business and therefore is an ideal match for Marine Electrical Systems,” said Bernd Bertram, Head of Portfolio Business, Wärtsilä.
Wärtsilä and VINCI Energies expect to complete the transaction in the last quarter of 2025.
