Wan Hai unveils 13,100 TEU newbuild vessel

On 16 January, Wan Hai Lines conducted a ship naming ceremony for the WAN HAI A13, marked by a charitable donation, at the Samsung Heavy Industries Geoje shipyard.

WAN HAI A13 was handed over at the Geoje shipyard and commenced its journey to the Shanghai Port, where it will be integrated into Wan Hai Lines’s Asia to East Coast of North America service.

The WAN HAI A13 stands as the seventh vessel in the 13,100 TEU series of container ships collaboratively developed by Wan Hai Lines and Samsung Heavy Industries. Six more vessels within this series are still in the process of construction and delivery.

These vessels, boasting a length overall of 335 meters, a breadth of 51 meters, a draft of 16 meters, and a maximum cruising speed of 22 knots, are equipped with advanced engines and incorporate environmentally friendly features, including fully balanced twisted bulb rudders and pre-swirl fins.

According to a statement, these elements contribute to energy savings and fuel efficiency. Notably, these vessels have been awarded the “Smart Ship” notation, ensuring secure and reliable maritime transportation services.

In addition to the naming ceremony, Wan Hai Lines demonstrated its commitment to corporate social responsibility by donating essential items to the local charity Tongyeong Shinaewon Green Narae. This act reflects the company’s guiding motto, “We carry, we care,” underlining Wan Hai Lines’ dedication to delivering quality service to customers while simultaneously contributing to the well-being of society.
