Wan Hai Lines has announced that its vessel WAN HAI A19, while transiting the Eastern Pacific Ocean, successfully rescued two people adrift at sea on November 6, 2025 (UTC).
The ship received a search and rescue request from the U.S. Coast Guard Joint Rescue Coordination Center Alameda (RCC Alameda) after a distress alert was issued regarding two survivors whose boat had sunk.
The WAN HAI A19 immediately altered course and conducted a coordinated search under RCC direction, locating and rescuing the individuals at position 03-57.17N / 110-44.43W.
Following the rescue, both survivors—identified as nationals of Guatemala and Ecuador—were brought safely onboard. Initial assessments confirmed they were in stable condition, and they are now receiving warmth, nourishment, hydration, and medical observation onboard the vessel.
In coordination with RCC Alameda, WAN HAI A19 is en route to the designated rendezvous point near the coast of Guatemala, where the survivors will be safely transferred to local authorities.
This successful operation fulfills the vessel’s obligations under the International Convention on Maritime Search and Rescue and underscores Wan Hai Lines’ commitment to humanitarian assistance and maritime safety.
Wan Hai Lines reaffirmed its guiding principle — “We Carry, We Care” — emphasizing its dedication to protecting life at sea and supporting global humanitarian efforts.
