Wan Hai Lines has announced contingency arrangements affecting cargo currently carried on two of its vessels as the security situation in the Middle East continues to deteriorate.

The company said the escalation of war and military actions in the region has created an increasingly unpredictable operating environment. As a result, the carrier is closely monitoring developments and assessing feasible measures to ensure the safety of vessels, crew members and cargo.

According to Wan Hai Lines, cargo currently onboard the vessels WAN HAI A17 and KOTA PLUMBAGO is planned to be temporarily discharged at Mundra, India.

The shipping line said it will continue evaluating possible options to safely transport the cargo to the originally intended place of delivery or to another feasible port, subject to operational feasibility and safety considerations.

Cargo owners have also been advised to consider the option of a change of destination (COD). Any such arrangement will depend on current service availability and operational conditions and will require confirmation by Wan Hai Lines before implementation.

The company noted that all costs and charges arising from these contingency measures will be borne by cargo interests. These may include expenses related to operational adjustments, vessel deviation, alternative discharge ports, terminal handling, storage, transshipment and other related logistics costs.

Wan Hai Lines added that all applicable charges must be settled before cargo release.

The carrier said it will continue to closely monitor developments in the region and provide further updates as necessary, while encouraging customers to contact their local Wan Hai Lines representatives for assistance.
