Wan Hai 502, a sister ship to the Wan Hai 503 that exploded in June, was involved in a chemical leak scare in Kaohsiung port.
Around 2pm local time, just before the 2005-built 4,252 TEU Wan Hai 502 departed for Hong Kong on 22 August, some liquid was seen below a Hapag-Lloyd container labelled as carrying styrene monomer, prompting fears of a chemical leak.
Pier 66, where Wan Hai 502 was berthed, was cordoned off, and the police and firefighters were mobilised.
