VIACHAIN™, an ORBCOMM® company, has joined the Digital Container Shipping Association’s (DCSA) partnership program, DCSA+. The move aims to accelerate the adoption of interoperable digital standards and eliminate the fragmented data practices currently hindering the container logistics sector.
As a specialist in IoT-enabled supply chain intelligence, VIACHAIN will contribute its technical expertise to help develop shared API and data exchange frameworks. The goal is to create seamless data flows between carriers, terminals, depots, and shippers.
Solving Interoperability Gaps
Container logistics often suffers from inconsistent handover processes and communication gaps between supply chain nodes. VIACHAIN views standardization as a necessary industry foundation rather than a competitive tool.
The company’s primary focus within DCSA+ will be ecosystem-wide interoperability. This includes integrating data between:
-
Shipping lines and leasing companies.
-
The Bureau of International Containers (BIC) master data.
-
Dry and reefer container IoT exchange.
Turning Data into Intelligence
“Meaningful supply chain visibility depends on shared standards, not fragmented approaches,” said Christian Allred, Chief Commercial Officer at ORBCOMM. He emphasized that standardized data allows stakeholders to turn real-time intelligence into decisions that reduce costs, prevent cargo loss, and improve asset utilization.
Mariana Bock-Losada, Chief Growth Officer at DCSA, noted that welcoming VIACHAIN strengthens the association’s expertise in real-time container visibility. She added that the collaboration ensures DCSA standards remain practical and scalable for the entire industry.
