The Port of Valencia has announced a year-on-year drop in September container volumes handling 385,830 TEUs.
Additionally, rail transport continues to grow in the Spanish port with a total of 176,768 TEUs entering and leaving the Valencian ports by rail in the first nine months of the year.
From January to September, container traffic with the Far East remained constant, with 585,177 TEUs handled. China remains the most important trading partner, followed by the United States, but the nations with which trade relations have grown the most are Egypt and Vietnam.
Furthermore, the number of vehicles moved by rail traffic has increased dramatically by 267.23%, confirming the effectiveness of Valenciaport’s rail development plan. Ro-Ro traffic (short-sea shipping services for roll-on/roll-off cargo) increased by 15.65% to 51,221 units in September at Valenciaport’s docks.
