Valenciaport awards contract for railway track devices to enhance operations at Port of Sagunto

Valenciaport has awarded the contract for the supply of railway track devices for the emerging inland railway network within the Port of Sagunto to Voestalpine Railway Systems JEZ S.L.

The contract, valued at approximately US$2 million (excluding VAT), entails the provision of ten pieces of track equipment under specific conditions, which encompass pre-assembly and testing at the workshop, transportation to designed installation points or specified locations by the Works Management, and provision of technical assistance throughout the supply process, encompassing transfer, storage, and final assembly stages.

Additionally, a crucial stipulation within the contract requires that the switches and crossings provided must adhere to interoperability standards outlined in the Especificaciones Técnicas de Interoperabilidad (ETI) of Commission Regulation (EU) No 1299/2014, ensuring compliance across various phases from design to operation. Financing for this project is sourced from funds allocated within the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.

Manufacture and transport of the switches and crossings are expected to span eight months. Technical assistance from the contracted company will persist until these components are fully integrated into the infrastructure of the Port of Sagunto.

Furthermore, an extra four-month period is allocated for the completion of Technical Assistance for Supply, with potential extensions to align with the progress of track assembly works, which are managed independently.

Delivery schedules for the equipment will be established through collaboration between Valenciaport (PAV), the Works Management overseeing the construction project of the inland rail network at the Port of Sagunto, and Voestalpine Railway Systems JEZ S.L., the contracted company.
