US container imports from Asia grow in July

U.S. container imports from 10 major Asian economies reached 1.92 million TEUs in July, a 1.2% increase compared with the same month last year. From June, volumes rose sharply by 25%.

According to the Japan International Freight Forwarders Association (JIFFA), citing data from Descartes Datamyne, total U.S. imports in July stood at 2.62 million TEUs, up 2.5%. From January to July, Asian imports added up to 11.77 million TEUs, marking a 3.5% rise.



Imports from China dropped 7.8% year on year to 1.03 million TEUs but climbed 40.4% from June due to strong peak-season demand and tariff-driven orders. Vietnam grew 34.5% to 262,358 TEUs, South Korea declined 6.6% to 208,438 TEUs, India advanced 30.7% to 87,768 TEUs, and Singapore gained 5.5% to 78,228 TEUs.
