UAE Energy Ministry and Agility partner on data center efficiency

The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Agility to accelerate energy efficiency across data centers and district cooling systems in the UAE.

The partnership aims to improve economic performance and strengthen the UAE’s regional and global competitiveness in digital infrastructure.

The MoU was signed by Eng. Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry, and Tarek Sultan, Chairman of Agility.

Under the agreement, Agility will deploy AI-based control technology developed by Phaidra, a global provider of AI agents for power and cooling optimization. The technology manages complex energy, cooling, and workload systems used in modern data centers.

The collaboration will start with a targeted study and a pilot project. The project will test Phaidra’s reinforcement learning models in industrial infrastructure environments.

Phaidra’s platform can reduce cooling capital costs and cut energy consumption by up to 40%. It also improves system safety, resilience, and operational reliability, especially in high-temperature climates.

The partnership will assess opportunities to scale AI-driven optimization across the sector. The goal is to position the UAE as a preferred destination for AI and digital infrastructure investment.

The initiative supports the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategy and the Ministry’s Energy Efficiency Strategy.

Eng. Sharif Al Olama said the partnership will help reduce energy consumption and enhance infrastructure reliability. He added that it supports the UAE’s ambition to lead in next-generation AI data centers.

Tarek Sultan said the agreement highlights the role of public-private collaboration as AI reshapes global infrastructure. He noted that AI control systems improve efficiency, resilience, and long-term economic performance in energy-intensive facilities.
