Trump hints at softer Iran sanctions: Potential impact

President Donald Trump’s off-the-cuff remark in The Hague last week that Iran will need money to put that country back into shape has sent tremors through Gulf shipping circles.



Coming barely a month after he ordered the US Treasury to let China continue to purchase oil from Iran, the comment suggests Washington could slow-roll its maximum-pressure campaign even as formal sanctions remain on the books.
