Toll launches electric trucks at Woolworths

Toll Group has introduced its first electric heavy truck for Woolworths’ Primary Connect at the Moorebank Distribution Centre in NSW. More units are set to join the fleet, marking a step toward cleaner, quieter, and lower-emissions transport.

The Volvo FM battery-electric truck will be supported by a 980kW EV charger, complementing the site’s 3.8MW solar system. The rollout is part of Toll’s US$67 million investment in electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, co-funded by ARENA.

Nick Vrckovski, Toll President Retail & Consumer, said the move reflects a long partnership with Woolworths and a shared focus on sustainability. Chris Brooks, Acting Managing Director of Primary Connect, added the initiative provides practical insights for scaling electric fleets in heavy transport.

The program will help the industry learn more about energy use, route planning, and vehicle performance, supporting Australia’s shift to low-emissions freight.
