Toll Group deploys electric trucks for LEGO supply chain in China

Toll Group has launched 10 electric trucks in China to support The LEGO Group’s supply chain. The move advances Toll’s carbon-neutrality goals and supports both companies’ net-zero targets for 2050.

The new electric vehicles, built by FOTON, will replace diesel trucks on key shuttle routes between LEGO’s factory and regional distribution centers in Lingang Free Trade Zone and Jiaxing. They will transport LEGO products more efficiently and sustainably.

Lingang Free Trade Zone serves as the launch site due to its proximity to the port and its role in LEGO exports. Each truck can travel over 300 km and fully recharge in 1.5 hours. The deployment is expected to cut 218 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year.

The trucks run on a mix of hydro, solar, wind, fossil, and nuclear power, reflecting China’s energy system. The initiative benefits from Shanghai’s EV-logistics incentives.

“This launch demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and innovation,” said Morris Ong, Regional GM Greater China. “We share LEGO’s environmental values and are proud to support a cleaner future.”
