THE Alliance updates its Asia-Med network

THE Alliance, a shipping alliance between Hapag Lloyd, Ocean Network Express (ONE), Yang Ming and HMM, has announced several changes in its Asia-Mediterranean network.

Hapag-Lloyd has published the following changes in THE Alliance’s MD1 and MD3 services schedules.

The customers, who already have a booking and would prefer to select the above-mentioned options, have the option to modify their booking, according to the company’s statement.

Furthermore, APM Terminals has announced the return of THE Alliance’s MD2 service to its Barcelona facility.

“THE Alliance has once again entrusted APM Terminals Barcelona with calls from its MD2 service, which connects the Far East and the Mediterranean,” said the terminal operator in its announcement.

The first vessel from this service to call the Port of Barcelona was Hapag Lloyd’s 14,993TEU Al Murabba.

MD2 service resumes calls in Spain following a schedule change in 2018 with THE Alliance members deciding to improve frequency, to offer more competitive transit times and to enhance coverage of Spain’s network.

MD2 service will offer two weekly connections to the Far East from Barcelona, according to APM Terminals announcement.

The updated rotation of MD2 service will be Pusan, Qingdao, Shanghai, Yangshan, Ningbo, Shekou, Kaohsiung, Singapore, Piraeus, Genoa, La Spezia, Fos, Barcelona, Piraeus, Singapore, Pusan.
