Tanger Med Eyes Liberia in Strategic Bid to Reshape West Africa’s Maritime Map

In a move that signals Morocco’s rising ambitions as a continental maritime power, Tanger Med Engineering, a subsidiary of the influential Tanger Med Group, has signed a deal to modernize Liberia’s key ports—Monrovia and Buchanan.



The agreement, struck with Liberia’s National Port Authority, involves infrastructure upgrades including dredging and capacity expansion, aimed at turning the country’s underutilized ports into regional contenders.
