Tanger Alliance chooses Portchain’s tool for Moroccan terminal optimisation

Tanger Alliance which operates Container Terminal 3 (TC3) in Tanger Med Port, has selected the Berth Optimisation Engine of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions provider Portchain in order to optimise its quayside operations.

Particularly, as Portchain’s Berth Optimisation Engine digitises the planning process and enables upgraded resource allocation, it will help the Moroccan terminal that went live on 1 January enhance its berth planning and its customers monitor berth status in real-time.

The Copenhagen-based company Portchain helps planning staff evaluate different scenarios and their Key Performance Indicators (KPI) select the most cost-effective plan and quickly respond to new customer information, according to a statement.

Moreover, its AI-driven optimisation software further assists planning staff by automating resource allocation for all vessels simultaneously. This assists the planning staff in finding the optimal plan to increase capacity or reduce operational costs.

Chief commercial officer of Portchain, Thor Thorup commented on the new collaboration with the Tanger Alliance, which is a partnership consisting of Marsa Maroc, Eurogate, Contship Italia and Hapag-Lloyd, saying, “We are excited to help Tanger Alliance realise their plans to optimise their operations and provide a better customer experience.”
