WiseTech Global and Tailwind Shipping Lines, a subsidiary of Lidl, one of Europe’s largest retailers, announced a direct data integration with CargoWise. The integration allows freight forwarders to plan, book, confirm, and manage ocean shipments in real time from within CargoWise, the logistics industry’s leading execution platform.
Freight forwarders can now access and book Tailwind Shipping Lines’ capacity directly in CargoWise. The connection removes manual processes and improves booking efficiency.
Tailwind Shipping Lines operates three liner services that connect key global regions. The Panda Express Service (PAX) links China and the Mediterranean. The Tiger Express Service (TEX) connects Bangladesh, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka. The Dolphin Express Service (DEX) provides short sea transport between Barcelona, Spain, and Moerdijk, the Netherlands.
These services make limited port calls, often at smaller ports. This approach reduces delays and supports reliable, punctual deliveries.
The direct data connection allows CargoWise users to access Tailwind’s schedules, dynamic rates, and available capacity in real time. Customers can also modify digital bookings up until final execution without leaving CargoWise.
Nico Peters, VP Commercial Management at Tailwind Shipping Lines, said: “Tailwind aims to make ocean transport simple, predictable, and transparent. Digitization plays a central role in achieving this goal. The direct integration with CargoWise removes manual steps and ensures consistent data from start to finish. It delivers a smarter and more digital shipping experience focused on speed and accuracy.”
Bjorn Schwarz, Carrier Integration and Transformation Manager at WiseTech Global, said: “More than 99% of the world’s ocean freight managed through CargoWise can now be electronically booked directly with carriers and NVOCCs, including Tailwind Shipping Lines. Real-time data sharing helps Tailwind optimize planning and capacity management while responding quickly to market changes.”
He added: “CargoWise users benefit from a simpler booking process. The integration removes double data entry, reduces emails, minimizes human error, and improves visibility and productivity. This first phase focuses on ocean freight, with potential to expand digital connectivity to rail and inland transport in the future.”
