Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) has marked the naming of two new 114,000 DWT Aframax product tankers built for Tai Chong Cheang Steamship Co. (H.K.) Ltd. (TCC Group), celebrating the renewal of a partnership that began more than two decades ago.
The vessels, named CSK JUBILEE and KWK REVELATION, were unveiled during a dual naming ceremony held at SWS. Following the event, the KWK REVELATION was officially delivered to the owner.
The collaboration between SWS and TCC dates back to 1999, when Mr. Frank Koo, Chairman of TCC, signed a Letter of Intent for two 175,000 DWT Cape-size bulk carriers — the first shipbuilding contract in SWS’s history. That partnership led to the successful delivery of the XIANG RUI in 2003, then China’s largest green bulk carrier and the first to receive the “Green Notation” from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
The new Aframax tankers mark a continuation of that legacy. Built with advanced hydrodynamic optimization and eco-friendly technology, both vessels meet the latest international standards, including EEDI Phase III, NOx Tier III, and SOx emission requirements.
SWS said the new vessels represent a combination of energy efficiency, safety, and economic performance, positioning them among the world’s top-performing tankers.
The renewed partnership highlights the long-standing ties between Shanghai and Hong Kong’s maritime sectors and reinforces SWS’s reputation as a global leader in building large, environmentally advanced vessels.
