Swissterminal announces new direct connections to Rotterdam and Antwerp

Swissterminal, a European operator of terminal, port and inland service networks, has announced the expansion of its offering from Switzerland to Antwerp in Belgium and Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

From 2023 the new service, Schweizerzug, is expected to offer four round trips a week from Frenkendorf, Switzerland and two round trips a week from Niederglatt, Switzerland to Antwerp, while three round trips a week will be available for customers from the two regions in Switzerland to Rotterdam.

According to DP World affiliated company, Swissterminal, the transport industry in Europe is operating under difficult conditions. Swissterminal says the geopolitical situation, the skills shortage and infrastructure problems on the German rail network have made it a turbulent year in freight transport.

“Even very small delays can result in soaring production costs for our customers,” pointed out Roman Mayer, CEO of Swissterminal.

Together with its partner DP World, Swissterminal organises transfers at the Rotterdam World Gateway and Antwerp Gateway arrival terminals, depending on customer requirements, and transportation from the first mile to the last mile in Switzerland.

“We, therefore, offer our Swiss customers a one-stop-shop solution from the factory to the European seaports. Fewer interfaces make it possible to save valuable resources,” Mayer stated.
