Rohlig SUUS Logistics and Grupa Kęty S.A. have started daily low-emission deliveries using an electric truck. The route connects Grupa Kęty’s plant in Kęty with its Aluprof factory in Bielsko-Biała.
The sites are 22 km apart. SUUS uses a Mercedes-Benz eActros 300 with a trailer. The tandem set carries aluminium profiles up to 7 metres long.
This is the first transport project of its kind in Poland. It cuts CO₂ emissions by 53% without sacrificing efficiency.
SUUS says the short distance and steady delivery volume made it a good fit for electric transport.
“A joint analysis confirmed it works,” said Fabian Szmurło, Domestic FTL Product Director at SUUS. “Strong partnerships are key when facing cost and infrastructure limits.”
Grupa Kęty called the project a mix of ecology, efficiency, and innovation. The truck’s body uses aluminium made from recycled material at the company’s plant.
The company plans to move 16,000 tonnes of aluminium annually between the two sites.
They also installed a 150 kW fast charger. It powers the truck in about 2.5 hours.
The truck runs on a fixed schedule, with help from telematics and GPS data. Real-time energy tracking improves operations.
Grupa Kęty says the effort supports its larger sustainability goals. The company recycles aluminium, uses solar power, and increases the use of recycled materials in production.
