Admiral Ossama Rabiee Attends Launch Ceremony
Admiral Ossama Rabiee, Chairman and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Authority, attended the launch of the first tourist yacht built by the Suez Canal Company for Modern Boats.
Mr. Mostafa El-Dougishy, CEO of the company, also participated in the ceremony.
The launch marks the beginning of a new production line of tourist yachts. The company is a partnership between the Suez Canal Authority and the South Red Sea Shipyard Co.
Modern Design and Technical Specifications
The new yacht measures 37 meters in length and 8.2 meters in width, with a weight of 135 tons.
It features a Sport Fisherman design and runs on 2600 hp MTU engines.
The yacht includes a master suite, four guest cabins, and four crew cabins.
It is equipped with two forward hydraulic units to operate a multi-purpose winch and a stern hydraulic unit to control the swimming platform.
Driving the ‘Made in Egypt’ Vision
Admiral Rabiee confirmed that the project aligns with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directive to localize the maritime industry.
He said the Suez Canal Company for Modern Boats aims to promote the “Made in Egypt” brand through world-class vessel production.
“The company represents a new and ambitious vision to strengthen Egypt’s shipbuilding capabilities,” Admiral Rabiee stated.
He added that construction is progressing quickly at the company’s fiberglass factories in Safaga. The facilities will soon produce yachts and tour boats to support Egypt’s growing tourism sector.
Expanding Maritime Tourism Projects
Mr. Mostafa El-Dougishy announced that the company has started several projects to serve the maritime tourism market.
The new yacht was designed by Fryco Yachts (USA), with interiors by Georges Vafiadis, under RINA supervision.
He added that the company is also building an 18-meter tourist yacht, using a fiberglass mold to enable mass production once the factory is fully operational.
Additionally, two 17-meter cruise boats, each 6 meters wide with capacity for 15 passengers, are being built for the Suez Canal Authority.
A 25-passenger Nile Taxi for river tourism is also under construction.
New Tugboats and Fishing Vessels Underway
During his visit, Admiral Rabiee inspected the new tugboats “AZM 3” and “AZM 4,” scheduled for delivery by the end of December.
He also reviewed ongoing pipe installation and mechanical work on the fishing vessels “REZK 1” and “REZK 2.”
Meeting with Svitzer to Explore Cooperation
On the sidelines of the visit, Admiral Rabiee met with a delegation from Svitzer, a global towing and salvage company, to discuss potential areas of cooperation.
The delegation included Captain Hossam Eid, Engineer Abdel Latif Ragab, and Mr. Amr El Bibany, along with Engineer Essam El-Maghraby, Chairman of the Suez Canal Company for Modern Boats.
Inspecting Egypt Yachts Factory
Admiral Rabiee concluded his visit by inspecting the Egypt Yachts factory, which is affiliated with the Suez Canal Company for Modern Boats.
He reviewed construction progress and the latest developments in the company’s upcoming vessel projects.
