Inmarsat Maritime, a Viasat company, will install its NexusWave connectivity solution on selected Northern Marine Management (NMM) vessels operated by Stena Bulk and Proman Stena Bulk, strengthening NMM’s crew-welfare and retention strategy.
The move builds on existing onboard connectivity and reflects the company’s commitment to offering high-quality digital access at sea. With crew expectations rising, NMM views fast, reliable internet as critical for seafarer wellbeing, talent attraction, and operational efficiency.
NexusWave delivers high-speed bonded connectivity, 99.9% availability, global coverage, and unlimited data. Crew can stay in touch with family, manage finances, use social media, stream entertainment, and engage in remote learning, helping create a more homelike onboard experience.
NMM says the upgrade supports its long-term focus on welfare, development, and job satisfaction across its fleet.
John Cook, Ship Management Director at Northern Marine Group, said the decision marks “a significant step forward” for Stena Bulk and Proman Stena Bulk vessels. “As expectations evolve, so too must our solutions,” he noted.
Robert Mathieson, Sales Manager at Inmarsat Maritime, said the companies are proving themselves “technologically progressive industry leaders” committed to improving crew wellbeing and operational performance.
