Star Information Systems (STAR) has bought Sharecat, a specialist in technical data quality for complex industrial operations. The deal strengthens STAR’s position in global asset management, especially in the maritime sector.
Based in Trondheim, Norway, STAR offers systems for maintenance, operations planning, procurement, logistics, and master data management. The company has grown fast in the past four years and aims to expand further in global markets.

High-quality information is critical for companies managing complex assets and carrying out advanced maintenance operations. By bringing Sharecat into the fold, STAR can combine its cost-efficient systems with Sharecat’s expertise, giving customers better data quality and improved information control, at lower cost than traditional ERP-based systems..
STAR CEO Bernt Lilliestråle called Sharecat “a perfect fit.” He said the move strengthens STAR’s ability to deliver the right maintenance at the right time.
Sharecat executives Eivind Norebø and Tom Haylock said they look forward to joining STAR. They plan to build on existing partnerships with major players in the maritime, energy, and industrial sectors.

STAR is majority-owned by Norwegian private equity firm Longship.
