The Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Center for Environmental Compliance to bolster efforts in protecting the marine environment, curbing pollution, and streamlining environmental permit issuance within Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea region.
The agreement also aims to promote sustainable development and support coastal tourism in the area.
The MoU was signed by Mohammed Al-Nasser, CEO of SRSA, and Eng. Ali Al-Ghamdi, CEO of the National Center for Environmental Compliance. This partnership aligns with SRSA’s mission to formulate and implement policies, strategies, and initiatives that regulate marine tourism and navigational activities.
Furthermore, it also encompasses issuing permits, safeguarding the marine ecosystem, and establishing service and marina operation standards in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
The National Center for Environmental Compliance is dedicated to enhancing environmental adherence, reducing pollution, and improving responsiveness to environmental emergencies. Through this agreement, the two organizations aim to enhance coordination in issuing environmental permits, promote compliance, and leverage electronic systems for efficient operations.
Key areas of collaboration include research and innovation in environmental monitoring and assessment, the development of eco-friendly technologies, and preparedness for environmental emergencies. Additionally, the partnership focuses on raising environmental awareness, building capacity, conducting training programs, and executing joint initiatives to protect the Red Sea’s ecosystem.
