SriLankan Cargo joins Freightos

Freightos has announced a new partnership with SriLankan Cargo, the air freight division of SriLankan Airlines.

Through integration with WebCargo, Freightos’ air cargo platform, SriLankan Cargo will soon enable digital booking and payments for its services significantly expanding Freightos’ presence in South Asia and enhancing digital access to Colombo.

Expected to go live later this quarter, the integration will allow more than 10,000 freight forwarding offices using WebCargo worldwide to instantly search, quote, book, and pay for SriLankan Cargo’s capacity.

This service will be offered alongside Freightos’ broader capabilities in rate management, procurement, and full freight lifecycle operations.

SriLankan Cargo operates across 32 online destinations in 21 countries, and with its global airline partners, connects to over 200 destinations providing especially strong service on key routes to India, the Gulf, Southeast Asia, and Europe.

This partnership will offer freight forwarders enhanced digital access to these strategic lanes through a single, unified platform.

Zvi Schreiber, CEO of Freightos. commented that by integrating their rates and capacity, forwarders gain instant access to critical South Asian trade routes, including Colombo and India.

In a notable boost for inclusivity, the collaboration also leverages WebCargo Pay, a feature that allows non-IATA freight forwarders to book SriLankan Cargo services without needing traditional airline credit lines or bank guarantees. This is especially impactful in emerging markets, where smaller logistics companies have often been excluded from premium air freight capacity.

Chaminda Perera, Head of Cargo at SriLankan Airlines, emphasized the broader benefits, saying that the integration ensures our capacity and rates are visible at the key point of decision-making in the logistics chain.

SriLankan Cargo will also utilize WebCargo’s interlining capabilities to strengthen its cooperative services with partner carriers such as Qatar Airways, Emirates SkyCargo, Turkish Airlines, and Etihad Cargo.
