SOGET launches EasyBrexit!

Cross-channel RO-RO traffic of trucks and its logistics’ fluidity in ports are crucial matters for the competitiveness of the Great-Britain – Europe corridor. With 5 million trucks on the coastal border territory, the current port infrastructure cannot deal with a new logistics border.

SOGET, in close collaboration with French customs, port authorities, ferry companies and road hauliers, will offer an integrated e-freight corridor based on a digitalized anticipation of information flows related to cross-Channel goods.

Hervé CORNÈDE, General Manager and Chairman of the SOGET Management Board, explains:

“With the main ports of Normandy and the Hauts-de-France already equipped with our tech solutions, SOGET turns the anxiety about future Brexit obligations into strategic opportunities thanks to our new, neutral community platform for secure information exchange”.

SOGET’s Port Community System (PCS) already handles ferry and RO-RO operations across the Channel to the ports of Caen-Ouistreham, Calais and Le Havre. With the EasyBrexit pilot solution proposed by SOGET, we extend our digital expertise to ALL types of goods. Cross-channel flows are thus connected to
all the existing functionalities of our S)ONE PCS developed in partnership with MICROSOFT.

Olivier JEAN-DEGAUCHY, Director SOGET Innovation stipulates:

“The approach is very simple: ferry lines and Channel Tunnel logistics traffic are considered as road and RORO bridges. The early sharing of information related to goods in EasyBrexit will enable cross border automated port controls, thus making possible the reduction of physical inspections”.

As soon as information on the goods is known to the carrier, EasyBrexit confidentially shares stakeholders’ data involved in the transport and logistics chain between Great Britain and the European Community points of entry. This will enable customs services to operate mandatory requirements in a digital environment that
facilitates fluidity and security.

Hervé CORNÈDE concludes:

“For veterinary and phytosanitary mandatory controls, SOGET, the French customs, the DGAL* and all the professionals of the Seine Axis already ensure the dematerialized documentary treatment of goods subject to control in all countries of the world. With EasyBrexit, the digitization of procedures in future SIVEP* will be systematised for all cross-channel flows.

SOGET and its supply chain partners have teamed-up with their counterparts in Southern England to ensure that the EasyBrexit solution operates with information systems and helps provide logistics efficiency to port communities on both sides of the Channel. In SOGET’s overall strategy, we have already anticipated the next step in technological and strategic collaboration with MICROSOFT to include predictive analysis and artificial intelligence. More advanced targeting will further accelerate the time it takes for future logistics transport across borders.
