On 6 August 2025, at the 2025 Science-Based Targets Development Forum in Nanshan, Shenzhen, SITC Shipping President Ji Wenguang signed the Joint Initiative to Lead the “Green” Power Revolution: Working Together to Create a New Future for Sustainable Fuels. The move marks SITC’s entry into the Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance and its commitment to advancing low-carbon development in global shipping.
The initiative, launched by major industry players including China Power Engineering Consulting Group, COSCO Shipping Specialized Transport, CIMC Enric Holdings, and others, seeks to tackle policy, technology, and supply chain challenges for sustainable fuels through cross-sector collaboration.
SITC pledged to accelerate the use of sustainable shipping fuels, optimise vessel energy-efficiency design, and implement full life-cycle carbon management, aiming to boost low-carbon fuel use significantly by 2030. The company also plans to work with partners to build green supply chains and support the development of international green shipping corridors.
Calling the green transition both a responsibility and an opportunity, SITC said it will drive technological innovation, industrial synergy, and talent development to help build a low-carbon shipping ecosystem and move towards a zero-carbon future.
