SITC expands its boxship orderbook

SITC International Holdings, a major Chinese container line, has exercised its options with Huanghai Shipbuilding for two additional 1,800 TEU vessels.

The Hong Kong-listed vessel owner is investing nearly US$58 million to expand the series to eight ships. The newly ordered vessels are set for delivery in October and December 2027.

SITC initially signed a shipbuilding agreement with Huanghai in June 2023, which included four firm orders and six optional 1,800 TEU newbuilds. That means the company has two more slots booked for potential future fleet expansion.
