SC Ports handles over 2.4 million TEUs so far in FY23

South Carolina Ports (SC Ports) has handled over 2.4 million TEUs and 1.3 million pier containers so far in the fiscal year 2023 (July 2022 – June 2023).

In May, SC Ports handled 198,824 TEUs and 110,834 pier containers. Container shipments are down roughly 22% year on year as a result of the tightening economy. Imports are falling as individuals spend less on products, but exports are rising, with a 4% increase year on year.

Additionally, in May, SC Ports processed 20,026 vehicles for worldwide automakers at Columbus Street Terminal, translating to a 14% growth year-on-year.

SC Ports’ two rail-served inland ports, which transfer cargo via rail between the Port of Charleston and interior markets, saw strong volumes. Inland Port Dillon had another record-breaking month in May, processing 4,415 rail transfers, a 138% increase over the same month last year, while Inland Port Greer had handled 14,931 rail shipments, up 4% year-on-year.
