The South Carolina Ports Authority (SC Ports) has appointed Micah Mallace as its new President and CEO, following a unanimous vote by the Board of Directors.
Mallace, a Charleston native, brings extensive experience in maritime and logistics. He previously served as Chief Commercial Officer at SC Ports and later as President of Harbor Logistics, a third-party logistics company specializing in port drayage, warehousing, and transload operations.
“I am humbled by the opportunity to serve as the next President and CEO at SC Ports,” Mallace said. “South Carolina’s port community provides unmatched service, and together, we will continue to strengthen our competitiveness.”
Board Chairman Bill Stern said Mallace’s appointment reflects his vision and hands-on industry knowledge. “Micah understands the global significance of our operations and has the experience to lead SC Ports into its next phase of growth,” Stern noted.
Industry leaders and state officials welcomed the appointment. Interim CEO Phil Padgett called Mallace “the right person to guide SC Ports as it continues to grow as a top-ten U.S. container port.” Hapag-Lloyd North America President Stuart Sandlin praised the ports’ reliability and said the company looks forward to expanding operations in Charleston under Mallace’s leadership.
Senate President Thomas Alexander and House Speaker Murrell Smith both commended the Board’s decision, citing Mallace’s experience and alignment with South Carolina’s economic goals.
Mallace is a graduate of the College of Charleston, married, and a father of three.
