
Samskip has appointed Ólafur Orri Ólafsson as its new Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds Kari-Pekka Laaksonen.

Under Kari-Pekka Laaksonen’s leadership, Samskip expanded its network and entered new markets. The company also accelerated efforts to reduce emissions and modernise operations. Samskip credited this work with strengthening the group’s foundation for future growth.
Ólafur Orri Ólafsson takes over with extensive internal experience. He has held several strategic and operational roles within Samskip and brings detailed knowledge of the company’s business and customers.
In his first statement as CEO, Ólafsson thanked his predecessor and pledged to continue the company’s direction.
He said he takes on the role at an important time for the business and expressed pride in succeeding Laaksonen. He added that Samskip is well positioned for the future and that he plans to build on the company’s existing strategy.
