SAL Heavy Lift adds two semi-submersible deck carriers

SAL Heavy Lift is expanding its fleet. The German heavy lift company acquired two semi-submersible vessels, MV Sun Shine and MV Sun Rise, from Pan Ocean (Korea). The ships will arrive in Europe between October 2025 and April 2026. They will operate under the JSI Alliance.

The move doubles SAL’s capacity in the semi-submersible segment. It follows the successful charter of MV Zhong Ren 121 and 122 in 2023.

Matthieu Moerman, Director of Renewables & Offshore at JSI Alliance, said: “Clients want more tonnage and flexibility. With four vessels, we can handle larger and more complex projects. MV Sun Shine is one of the few deck carriers built outside China. This gives us more freedom with tariffs and trade regulations.”
