Saga Shipholding transfers entire fleet to the Bahamas ship registry

The Bahamas Maritime Authority announceδ that Saga Shipholding, in partnership with NYK and under the management of global leader Anglo-Eastern, has committed to transferring its entire fleet of 30 general cargo vessels to the Bahamas Ship Registry.

In addition, two Saga vessels managed by NYK Singapore have also opted for the Bahamas flag, bringing the total to 32 vessels now in the process of joining the registry.

This strategic fleet transfer marks a significant milestone for the BMA, representing a projected 1.56% increase in Gross Tonnage, and further enhancing the global standing and growth trajectory of the Bahamian flag.

Capt. Jahangir Hussain, Regional Director (Asia), BMA, stated that this is a strong endorsement of The Bahamas’ reputation for quality, responsiveness, and technical excellence.

The vessels each well-maintained and demonstrating excellent port state control records are being transitioned in phased transfers, with the final three ships expected to join the Bahamas flag by the end of June 2025.
