SAAM Towage has completed one of the most complex operations in its history: a transcontinental tandem tow of two platform supply vessels (PSVs) from Cartagena, Colombia, to Istanbul, Turkey. Led by the tug Sea Trout, the operation spanned 13,675 nautical miles over 113 days, including a stop in Gulfport, USA, and passage through the Strait of Gibraltar.
This milestone marks a significant achievement for both SAAM Towage and Colombian maritime operations, highlighting the company’s growing technical capabilities and global reach. Guillermo Burga, Country Manager for SAAM Towage Colombia-Ecuador, praised the crew’s precision, expertise, and commitment to safety, noting that towing two vessels simultaneously is a rare and highly complex task.
