Riga Universal Terminal upgrades operations with GullsEye TOS

Riga Universal Terminal (RUT), one of the largest multipurpose terminals at Latvia’s Port of Riga, has successfully transitioned to GullsEye Logistics Technologies’ Gen2 Terminal Operating System (TOS).

This upgrade aims to modernize and streamline operations for container, bulk, and general cargo handling, as well as rail logistics.

A subsidiary of Portek International Pte Ltd, RUT handles approximately 100,000 TEUs annually and manages around 2 million tons of bulk and frozen cargo. Previously relying on a basic TOS with limited container support, RUT sought a more comprehensive and integrated solution to efficiently manage both containerized and non-containerized cargo. After a thorough evaluation, GullsEye’s advanced system was selected.

The transition, initiated in July 2023 and completed by December 2023, was executed with minimal disruption to operations. Since then, RUT has worked alongside GullsEye to fine-tune workflows, achieving significant improvements in productivity and cost efficiency.

GullsEye’s cutting-edge technology, featuring an optimization engine and seamless integration capabilities, has enhanced RUT’s operational efficiency. The new system allows for precise cargo tracking, monitoring, and planning while reducing manual processes. GullsEye’s expert implementation team also ensured smooth integration with port authorities, customs, agencies, and liners, meeting tight deadlines and budgets.

A management representative from Riga Universal Terminal praised the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to partner with GullsEye. Their modern technology has significantly enhanced our efficiency, streamlined our processes, and improved our ability to deliver outstanding service to our customers. The smooth transition and ongoing support from the GullsEye team have been remarkable.”

This upgrade positions RUT as a forward-thinking terminal equipped with digital solutions that enhance its role as a key logistics hub in the Baltic region. By adopting GullsEye’s TOS, RUT ensures its continued leadership in operational excellence within the evolving maritime industry.
