RCL announces compliance with IMO sulfur cap

Regional Container Lines (RCL) has declared an immediate End of Voyage for two more vessels, citing the heightened escalation of war.

RCL will introduce a Low Sulphur Go Green Recovery to cover the additional costs associated with using a more expensive but cleaner fuel for compliance.

This change comes as the International Maritime Organization will enforce a new sulfur cap for marine fuel oil starting on January 1, 2020, reducing sulfur oxide emissions from the current limit of 3.5% to 0.5% for ships.

With the goal of using a more environmentally friendly and cleaner fuel to improve both the environment and human health, RCL will begin transitioning to the new 0.5% sulfur fuel to ensure full compliance with the IMO’s regulations starting January 1, 2020.
