QMAG deploys Maersk ECO Delivery to decarbonise logistics

The supplier of magnesia products Queensland Magnesia (QMAG) has chosen Maersk ECO Delivery to reduce its carbon footprint in transportation.

Maersk ECO Delivery is an innovative product that replaces fossil fuels with green fuels, and QMAG constitutes the first Oceania-based customer to deploy this solution.

Maersk will therefore offer QMAG certified carbon neutral shipping, based on sustainable biofuel, a solution that will help the company to make progress towards its sustainability goals.

“QMAG has an ambitious climate strategy, and it is continuously exploring ways of improving its environmental footprint,” stated QMAG’s joint managing directors, Peter Lowe and Christoph Beyer, who went on to add, “Our purpose at QMAG is to create solutions to make a sustainable difference, so the decision to choose Maersk ECO Delivery for our sea freight was a natural evolution of the steps already taken to secure a more sustainable future.”

In addition, Henrik Jensen, managing director of Maersk Oceania, commented, “Maersk is proud to partner with Queensland Magnesia to accelerate decarbonisation of the Oceania supply chain. The cooperation enables Maersk to pool our resources and reduce our respective carbon footprints much more efficiently.”

Since its start in 2019, Maersk ECO Delivery provides direct carbon savings through collaboration with customers, technology providers and certification partners, with customer demand growing more than 170% year-on-year.
