PSA Panama receives new equipment from Konecranes

PSA Panama has received three Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes from Konecranes in the first order from the terminal to the Finnish port equipment manufacturer.

The RTG cranes will enhance the terminal’s container handling equipment fleet, which presently includes 12 RTG cranes and 12 Rail-Mounted Gantry (RMG) cranes to accommodate PSA Panama’s growing container traffic.

The new RTGs are diesel-electric and incorporate Konecranes’ Diesel Fuel Saver technology, as well as Auto-Steering and Stack Collision Prevention. Furthermore, the RTGs will stack boxes up to five containers high and six container rows wide plus a truck lane.
